Booking
To provide you with an estimate, we need to know more about your hire period, the car you want, and how long you need it for. When you choose one of the rentals at Avis.com.au, you’ll save money no matter which option you choose.
The minimum age to drive a vehicle with Avis is 21 years of age. All drivers must hold a current, full and valid driver's licence, that has been valid for a minimum of 12 consecutive months. A young driver surcharge may apply.
The Driver must (i) hold a full, current and valid driving licence (not being a learners licence or provisional licence), (ii) have an International Driving Permit (IDP) or official translation (if a licence is not in Roman alphabet), (iii) have held their licence for minimum 12 consecutive months immediately prior to signing the Rental Agreement.
An International Driving Permit is not a stand-alone document and this must be carried with your valid domestic driving licence for it to be valid.
Digital drivers licences are only accepted in the issuing state. If you're travelling interstate you must present a physical (plastic) drivers licence.

Driving
Avis has partnered with Linkt to ensure toll payments are simple. You will be sent the information to access a Linkt Rental Account when you travel on a toll road. This account is automatically set up using your booking information, and will let you view your trips, payment details and statements.
All payments for tolls will be automatically made with the credit or debit card that you provided for your rental vehicle.

FAQs
Returning
When you return your rental car to Avis, you must do so with a full tank of fuel. We also ask that you remove all your personal belongings from the vehicle. Finally, please return the car to us in a clean state, ready for the next customer to drive.
There are select Avis locations that allow returns outside of business hours. Please contact the return location directly or contact the Avis Reservations team to check if this is possible on 136 333.
If you return the vehicle before the original return date (early return), you will not be refunded any portion of your payment. This does not detract from your rights as a consumer under applicable consumer protection legislation, including the Australian Consumer Law.
Avis allows one way rentals between select locations. Enter your details in the search widget to see available options. If you have an existing reservation, you can amend your booking online by clicking this link and following the prompts or on our mobile app. If you have collected your car and are having trouble amending your booking online, please contact the location you collected the vehicle from to check one way options.

Nearby Facilities
Ayers Rock Airport is located near the town of Yulara, which is around 450 km from Alice Springs. The airport is 20 minutes from Uluru itself, and a short 6 km drive from Ayers Rock Resort. While the airport itself has many facilities, including food and beverages, it is located in a very remote location. There is no public transportation, although some hotels provide an airport shuttle service. The two closest petrol stations are the Independent Initi Store and the Shell Ayers Rock Service Station.
